Free Hardcopy Resources

To celebrate the release of our online curriculum units in July, Science by Doing has decided to make available class sets of Enough Water Fit for Drinking and Doing Science Investigations at no cost (other than postage and handling) until present stocks run out. See Order Form. From trialling we have found some schools do not have the infrastructure to support online curriculum units at this point in time. The use of these hardcopy sets may be of initial assistance.

The purpose of Science by Doing is to improve science learning by:

  • engaging secondary students through an inquiry-based approach.
  • supporting school-based science teaching teams that acknowledge and build upon teacher expertise.

To accomplish this goal, the Science by Doing project has developed three important components: These components were trialled in Australian high schools during Stage One.

  • Our Professional Learning Approach
  • The Professional Learning Approach includes establishing professional learning communities within a school with an emphasis on leadership.

  • Our Curriculum Resources
  • The curriculum resources are inquiry-based and use digital technology in innovative ways.

  • Our Professional learning resources
  • The professional learning resources also use digital technology in innovative ways.

Science by Doing resources support the implementation of the Australian Curriculum: Science.

Resources from Stage One are available to be ordered. The curriculum resources will be available online on the Academy website from mid 2013 for schools to freely access.

The Academy has received funding from the Australian government to complete the remaining stages of Science by Doing for years 7 to 10.
